Old

I feel so old.  All of sudden Brent and I have dental problems, old people dental problems.  We both grind, so we will be a matching pair in our mouth guards.  Brent goes in on monday to get two permanent crowns.  Apparently I brush too hard and I'm causing my gums to recede.  When did I get old enough to have dental problems other than orthodontic work?

  1. If it makes you feel any better I've dealt with major dental problems since the age of 10 when I went flying off my bike, mouth first into the pavement. I had a root canal at 12, and a crown on my front tooth ever since.

The worst experiences I've had with it all were when my temporaries would just fall off and I'd look like an Appalachian, banjo-strummin', hick missing a front tooth.

A couple of years ago, my crown just broke in my mouth, and at the time, I didn't have dental insurance, and had to go to a dentist I had never been to and fork over 800 dollars because I didn't want to walk around with a missing front tooth.

Ugh the agony. I have this subtle anxiety at all times that my crown will fall out. Which is why I eventually want to get an implant.

I also have recurring nightmares of my teeth falling out of my mouth. lol

  2. I had a goal to get dentures by the time I was 30, but I missed it by a few years, I'm still working on it.

  3. Mike and I had to switch to the rechargeable electric type toothbrushes so we wouldn't kill our gums pressing too hard. You can get the double ones for couples at a good price at Sam's probably at Costco too. I personally can't take the vibration all through my head so I use the super ultra soft toothbrush that my dentist gives me and it has helped. The kids use the other electric one with Mike and they are really getting their teeth a lot cleaner.
