Another Mother's Day Post
We took these on the first sunday of the month, right after church to try and get a good mother's day shot, for grandmas. I bribed my son with candy, unfortunately my baby doesn't understand bribes. My son wasn't the best sport ever either.

This is what we sent out. My son told me after the shot, I didn't smile mom, I laughed.
I wanted them them in their nice clothes, that should be ironed, that I don't.
I would have gotten some great shots if I would have taped his hands to his side.
He didn't deserve the candy. But he is scared to death of his sister touching him, so the fact that I got them this close deserves candy for me.
Our camera died and needed some juice in those 5 minutes of charging, N babe, decided it was nap time.
But I didn't give up

The real question should be, why don't I wash my son's face, at least before pictures.
I gave up...

My third mothers day
My son decided to be nice to me and allow his sister to touch him. I wanted a cute picture of them in their polos. Normally he starts crying if she is even in touching distance. He told me the other day he doesn't want her touching him, because she spits up.
Then I wanted a picture of my girl in her ruffle polo dress standing up.
My son followed in the grand tradition of his father, and regifted all sorts of gifts for me. First he gave me the jewelry box that my wedding ring came in. Then I got the pocket reference book. Apparently he shares the same taste has his grampy, since that is what grampy gave my husband for Christmas. Then I got a necklace I made a year or so ago.
He informed me that it says happy mother's day.

Probably the sweetest part was right after the primary children sang in church (my son is not yet that old) my son decided to show his affection by putting me in a headlock and rubbing my hair. I think he thought he was hugging me. He had also decided to sit on the front middle row so I felt like the whole ward was watching me receive my headlock.
historial note, the my first married birthday, I came home from an evening seminar class, and found about 15 more presents then when I left. My husband had gone around the house finding things we already owned and regave them to me, so I would have lots of presents to open. I got things like one pink shoe. It was very sweet of him.

Mother's Day
Mother's Day is a really goofy holiday in my opinion. More goofy than Valentine's Day or something like that. But I don't feel like explain my opinion. Instead I will say, that I was surfing around and found this post on Mother's Day gifts. Reading this post is not the idea, when I saw the stack of material, I thought that would be such a lovely mother's day gift-- A stack of fat quarters.
Will I ever get any benefit from this post? Would my husband ever think to look back at a future holiday... Will my daughters ever read a blog book and get the idea? Only the future knows...
This much I know, normally I pick out my own mother's day present. I decided this is the last year for that, husband should have the joy of asking a little boy what mom wants for mother's day. Next year. Next year.

Farm Obsessed
We use to go to storytime on Wednesday, until my son decided he hated it. So I started a playgroup in my ward instead. I asked him on Tuesday if he wanted to go, he said yes, and the river. Turns out he didn't want storytime just the river preferably with daddy. (Our local library is in the middle of a business park, which has a stream going down the middle. If you walk up farther east, there is a river.) So I mentioned to my husband sometime J would like to take to what he calls the river, just up by the stores. That night my husband got page just right after midnight. And practically worked all night. He spend less than two hours sleeping in our bed, and less than 5 total. I found him at 7 am on the couch downstairs where he fell asleep on a conference call. He decided he was done working around 2 pm, and I figured he would go pass out until 6pm in bed.
Instead he offered to take us to "the river". While at "the river" our son was my husband's tour guide talking the whole time. It was very sweet of my husband, then I figured he would go home and fall asleep. Instead he asked how far away was the farm. I said why you want to go? He said kind of.. So we went, the second time this week. Third total, like I said farm obsessed. It was so much easier with my husband. We had fun looking at all the animals, and we didn't pay to ride the tractor it was sort of a relief. We saw two gaggles of goslings, one just wandering around on the bank, and one swimming in the ranging waters. It was funny to see them tumble through the water when they would get brave and try to get farther in the middle. They were not successful, and stay swimming on the side with their mom. J man loved watching the goslings, and talked about them all afternoon. (We are big fans of Ollie and the other gosling books, because of my son's middle name, even though we don't own any.)
I really appreciated my husband, he was totally exhausted, but want to spend time with the kids. He then went home and passed out until 7. His job can be annoying, and I probably am more annoying, asking when he is going to spend time with us. I am often grateful for my husband working crazy hours to provide for the kids and me. That morning, I told my son how nice daddy was, and how much he loved us so he worked all night long when he had to. I said if it wasn't for us, Daddy would have quit a long time ago and moved to Mexico to go surfing. My husband agreed, he said that would be so awesome if I didn't have responsiblity, to save up a couple thousand dollars and go surfing until it ran out. Get a job and repeat the whole process. (I'm perfectly fine with him thinking that, because sometimes I longly wish I was using my politcal science degree. I'm fine with that, because although both of our dreams would be fun, both of us would rather be here in a 20s bunglow with our kids.) I honestly can not image life without my husband and my entourage following me around crying all day. Entourage is what lovingly call my children and all their stuff that is required to leave the house.

the baby girl
This is what my carpet sees all day long. Its always happy when its not spit on, good thing its cheap from Home Depot, not a fancy Turkish one. If my carpet is like me, after it gets attacked, it thinks good thing you are the cute baby, with large translucent ears. At first I was surprised by her bald peach fuzz head and noticeable ears but now that's why we love her.
In other Nan news, she is movin and groovin. She rolls consecutively so she ends up about a foot away from where I placed her on the ground. After being fed her daily dinner of cereal she sleeps 13 hours through the night most of the time. And she will be 5 months on Tuesday. Where did the time go, she is very giggly fun, and find her much more enjoyable, but at the same time I sort of already miss the girl that sat in the swing scowling.
