Like I said Jobo turned 2, two days previous my hubby turned 26. On his birthday Jobo had cake and candles at his grandma's, I didn't have a camera so if you want pictures of that you have to email my mother in law. Yesterday we had a party for Jobo at my house, with some of my family in the area. It was a full house.

We had chicken tacos, and forgot to cook rice, so while we did that, we open presents. My husband and I gave Jobo a tool box and tools.

His grammy gave him a train set. And his grandma the night before gave him a ferris wheel with people.

Since I was out of town for Brent's birthday Jobo shared his present time with him.

Brent also got tools, that his part of the reason we waited for Brent to open his presents. So Jobo wouldn't play with his dad's real tools.

After the chicken tacos we had cupcakes and ice cream. I did cupcakes so I could use my cupcake stand.

I was going to do, basketballs, soccer balls, and baseballs, but we all took naps in the afternoon, so I only had time for basketballs. I'm not a perfectionist, so they don't look too amazing. But my cousin said they looked good.

Since this was Jobo's third party he really got the hang of the blowing out candles. Not to mention he loves the singing.

We didn't have pie for Brent, because I didn't have strawberries, and he told me not to get any. I really wanted to do something special for my husband for his birthday at some point (not necessarily during Jobo's party), but I really don't think he wanted me to do anything, because he kept telling me not to do anything.

My sister happened to be in town from Penn State, so she, her husband and new baby got to come to the party. It was very exciting. The picture shows what birthdays are all about, doing things you normally don't get to do, like eating chocolate ice cream in the living room.

The presents were such a hit, that the birthday boys were playing with their toys this morning.

Jobo was really excited to have his own tools to help his dad with.

Lesson learned, for all you future parents of two year olds. First birthday's are fun for first parents, but no need to do anything huge, because the kid is still too young to really understand. The second birthday is the one to go all out for, because the kid loves to open presents, and knows how to blow, and loves singing.
How fun. Could you pass on the Birthday wish to your hubby. I think I was probably talking to him on the phone on his birthday and still failed to wish him well. What a horrible sister.
ReplyDeleteHow totally fun! I'm sure he will remember from all the cool pictures his Birthday if he doesn't remember all the details later. Now he has all year to practice blowing out a candle so when he is three he doesn't spray the whole cake with spit!
ReplyDeleteI love the basketball cupcakes! They turned out great!
That cupcake holder is like a booby trap - it presents nothing but frosting to cake-seeking fingers! How are you supposed to extract a cake without getting stickyfingers!
